MESSAGE FROM OUR COUNSELORS

Dear Students and Families,

Welcome to a brand-new school year at Wilson Middle School! We hope you had a relaxing and fun-filled summer. We are excited to work with you this year. Whether you're returning or joining us for the first time, we want you to know that our doors are always open, and we are here to support each student’s academic, social, and emotional journey.

Our goal is to make sure every student feels seen, heard, and valued. We also want to work closely with families and teachers to create a supportive environment where students can thrive.

Throughout the year, we will be sharing resources, tips, and upcoming events during classroom visits, parent workshops, through Canvas messages, and on our school website. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions, concerns, or if your child would benefit from additional support.

We look forward to getting to know you and working together for a great year ahead!

CANVAS?? HELP!

DO I NEED TO PROVIDE IMMUNIZATIONS?

Seventh-grade students must be in compliance with the latest immunization requirements prior to the first day of school.  Students not in compliance cannot be admitted.

Contact your physician or the Health Dept. Immunizations are FREE. Call (813) 307-8077

The Florida Department of Health requires that students entering seventh grade receive a very specific form of the “Tetanus” vaccine. This vaccine is referred to as the Tdap (Combined Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis Vaccines). This requirement is in addition to the previous immunization requirements that are grade-appropriate. The Tdap can be administered to students 10 years of age and above. Documentation of a Tdap must be on file at Wilson Middle School prior to the start of school on August 11th.

If documentation does not specify the Tdap vaccine, the parent/guardian will be asked to return the form to the health care provider for clarification.

WHAT IF MY CHILD WANTS TO TRY OUT FOR ATHLETICS?

If your student will be trying out for any Wilson sports teams for the current school year, you can start the ONLINE paperwork now.

HOW DOES MY WILSON BULLDOG GET TO AND FROM SCHOOL?

Walking/Biking

Walking and bike riding are encouraged whenever possible. If you live south of the school, students cross Swann Avenue at the crosswalk in front of the school. Our bike racks are located on the west side of the school. Students are reminded to lock their bikes daily, and don’t forget, helmets are required. Walkers and bike riders enter the campus using the front gate located on Swann Avenue.

Car Riders

Families that bring/pick up their child by car will drop off beginning at 9:10 am and may enter the car line for afternoon pick up at 4:00 pm. Cars enter Edison Avenue from DeLeon Street. Cars unload/load beginning at the “Begin Unloading Here” sign. Students enter campus through the east gate on Edison Avenue.

Please view a PDF of the Car Line Traffic Flow Map here.

School Buses

Woodrow Wilson Middle School has buses that provide transportation to and from school each day for families that live more than 2 miles from the school. The bus routes, which include stops and times, will be mailed directly to eligible families. If you do not receive this information from the district transportation office, please contact the school to verify we have your correct address on file. Bus riders enter campus using the front gate located on Swann Avenue.

Please also create a 'Here Comes the Bus' account using the instructions below.
